Joe attended the Univ of Mo following graduation and entered the Army, serving in Viet Nam as a Paratrooper and Green Beret, retiring as a Colonel. In 1970, Joe married Vicki Llewellyn of Louisville, Ky and they have 5 children: Brian, a career Army officer and Attack Helicopter pilot; James, who operates a landscape business; Jeremy, who is in Med school at Univ. of Cincinnati; Christina, a Nurse at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati; and Mikey, who is in elementary school. Joe and Vicki also have two grandchildren and a daughter in law, Heather, who is a regular army signal corps officer. Joe completed an MS and MBA while in the service and presently serves as the CFO/COO of a Cincinnati not-for-profit corporation. Vicki is the Communications Director of a large ambulance company in Cincinnati. The Johnstons are very active in Eastern Star, Blue Lodge, York Rite and Shrine. Joe is also active in the Disabled American Veterans and presently serves as a state officer (Chief of Staff). Joe is also a Lay Leader of the Owensville United Methodist Church and has served in that capacity for the past 6 yrs. UPDATE: 7/13/06 Son Jeremy just passed his Medical Boards at the University of Cincinnati and we have three new grandchildren this year. Joey, Cole and Skylar.
